CIBC adds Apple Watch compatibility to its app

Apple’s upcoming smartwatch, which is launching on April 24th, has attracted a lot of interest by developers both Canadian and international.

A slew of companies have already announced plans to make their apps compatible with the Apple Watch including Air Canada, The Globe and Mail, theScore, WestJet, Transit App, Desjardins and Tangerine Bank. Now, CIBC has detailed how it plans to enhance customer experiences with the wearable.

Within the description of its latest update, CIBC notes customers will “enjoy banking on-the-go in real time” with the ability to view bank account information and balances, review transactions, transfer funds, and locate the closest branch or ATM. While the update says the functionality is “coming soon,” the code is likely already in the app and is just waiting for the Watch to go on sale later this week.

Last week, the Wall Street Journal reported that Apple Pay, which is available through the Watch, will be coming to Canada this fall.
