Huawei’s tri-folding phone launches in global markets in Q1 2025: report

Last month, Huawei showed off the Mate XT Ultimate, the world’s first tri-folding phone. Now a report from Android Headlines indicates that Huawei will bring this phone to global markets in Q1 2025. The publication didn’t hear this from Huawei, but a trusted source tipped them instead.

The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate may launch around MWC in February or at its event. However, considering the significance of the first tri-folding phone, launching it during an event like MWC or CES (in January) makes sense.

The Mate XT Ultimate sports a 10.2-inch 3K OLED display that can fold into a 7.9-inch or 6.4-inch panel. Despite having three layers and two hinges, it is nearly as thin as the Z Fold 6.

On top of this, the Mate XT Ultimate has great specs, including 16GB of RAM, a 50-megapixel primary shooter, a 5,600mAh battery, and more.

These great specs explain why many were upset when they couldn’t purchase the handset when it went on sale today. The Mate XT officially went on sale in China, but it was only available for those who pre-ordered the device. It turns out you can only grab one of these tri-foldables if you pre-order it, which has left many frustrated as that wasn’t clear before today.

I was the Huawei guy at MobileSyrup for years, and while I wasn’t a big fan of the user interface, Huawei makes extraordinary hardware that’s usually ahead of time.

The Mate XT Ultimate is available in China for 19,999¥ (roughly $3,845 CAD).
