The PS5 Pro will officially cost $959.99 CAD, PlayStation Canada has confirmed to MobileSyrup.

This is about what was expected, given that the upgraded console will be priced at $699 USD (which is about $950 CAD) when it launches on November 7th, 2024. For context, the base PS5 model costs $649, while the Digital Edition model is priced at $579.99 in Canada. Canadian pre-orders are also confirmed to go live on September 26th, although specific retailers have not yet been revealed.

As confirmed in a September 10th technical presentation, the PS5 Pro focuses on three main features: an upgraded GPU (offering up to 45 percent faster rendering), advanced ray tracing and AI-driven upscaling (using ‘PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution’ technology).

This will enable visual and/or framerate enhancements in dozens of supported games, including Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Alan Wake 2Ghost of TsushimaDemon’s SoulsThe Last of Us Part II RemasteredHorizon Forbidden WestGran Turismo 7 and Hogwarts Legacy.

It should be noted, however, that the PS5 Pro is a disc-less console, so you can only download digital games to its 2TB SSD. This means that if you want to use physical media, you have to buy the $99.99 Disc Drive separately. Otherwise, the PS5 Pro comes with a DualSense controller and Astro’s Playroom pre-loaded, just like the regular PS5. It also sports the same dimensions and aesthetic as the base PS5, with the addition of horizontal black stripes.
