Telus is once again trying to win over Koodo customers with special $50/100GB and $65/200GB offers.
This time around, Telus emailed me instead of texting me the offer, though the deals are the same as before.
The first of the two plans is a $50/100GB offer. The plan includes 5G data and is available for both bring-your-own-phone (BYOP) or allows for financing a new device. The other plan is $65/200GB with 5G+ data and also supports BYOP or financing options. Both prices include a $5/mo discount for using pre-authorized payments.
While the email doesn’t explain the difference, the main differentiator between 5G and 5G+ is speed. Telus arbitrarily caps 5G plans at speeds of up to 250Mbps, while 5G+ plans are capped at speeds of up to 2Gbps.
The email also doesn’t specify, but the plans presumably include unlimited Canada-wide calling and texting. It does note that Telus will waive its astronomical (and seemingly illegal) $70 connection fee, which is something.
Telus’ offers are quite a bit better than the company’s current in-market plans. The closest options to the $50/100GB deal are either $65 or $75 plans with 75GB (price depends on whether you BYOP or get a phone). On the $65/200GB side, comparable options are $80/150GB or $95/200GB, though that includes Canada/U.S. usage, while these special offers don’t.
The offers are only available in-store at Telus and you need the promo code included in the email to get the offer.
The offers only last until September 4th, so keep an eye out for an email (or text) with these deals and head to a Telus store to get the plan.
