EA Sports College Football 25 and Elden Ring were Canada’s best-selling games in July 2024

People were really jazzed about EA's first college football game since 2013

The Entertainment Software Association of Canada and Circana (formerly NPD) have revealed the best-selling games in Canada in July 2024.

  1. EA Sports College Football 25 (PS5, Xbox Series X/S)
  2. Elden Ring (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X and S/PC)
  3. EA Sports MVP bundle featuring Madden NFL 25 and College Football 25 (PS5, Xbox Series X/S)
  4. Hogwarts Legacy (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X and S/Nintendo Switch/PC)
  5. Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition (Nintendo Switch)
  6. Minecraft (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X and S/Nintendo Switch/Android/iOS/PC)
  7. EA Sports FC 24 (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X and S/Nintendo Switch/PC)
  8. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X and S/PC)
  9. Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD (Nintendo Switch)
  10. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (PS5)

Note that digital sales aren’t included for Nintendo Switch games.

In terms of Canadian connections to these games, it’s worth noting that EA Sports FC 24 was made by EA Vancouver, while Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD was originally developed by Nintendo’s Vancouver-based Next Level Games. It’s also worth noting that Xbox’s Quebec City-based Beenox assisted with the development of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.

Otherwise, there aren’t any major surprises here. There was a particular hype for EA Sports College Football 25 since it was the first game in EA’s college football series since 2013’s NCAA Football 14. Elden Ring‘s high placement also no doubt comes from the hotly anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, which was released in late June.

Meanwhile, it’s interesting to see Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition chart quite high, as it’s basically just a speedrunning-focused collection of emulated older games. That said, there’s of course a big nostalgia factor at play there.

For context, here’s July’s top 10 sellers in the U.S.:

  1. EA Sports College Football 25
  2. EA Sports MVP Bundle
  3. Elden Ring
  4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
  5. Minecraft
  6. Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition
  7. Hogwarts Legacy
  8. MLB The Show 24 (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X and S/Nintendo Switch)
  9. EA Sports FC 24
  10. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Evidently, the lists are almost identical. All around, no big surprises since it was a fairly quiet month for game releases on the whole.

August’s list will be interesting to see because there have been several big games. For one, Black Myth Wukong has been shattering records across the board, while other notable releases this month include Madden NFL 25 and Star Wars Outlaws.

In the meantime, check out June’s list of best-sellers.
