If you’ve been wondering about a massive compound that recently sprung up in Toronto’s north end, it turns out that it’s home to the latest MrBeast production.
As reported by CBC News, the popular YouTuber is currently shooting his Prime Video reality series Beast Games, produced in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios. The compound, which is located at Downsview Park Studios, contains rows of houses, buildings, gardens, picnic tables and more.

Beast Games follows a group of contestants as they participate in various stunts for a chance to win $5 million, all while living inside the complex. The first half of the series was filmed in Nevada with 2,000 participants, with the main production taking place in Toronto.
However, the series also brings with it a fair amount of controversy. Earlier this month, more than a dozen people who took part in the Nevada installment of the series told The New York Times that they hadn’t received adequate food or medical care, with some even saying they endured physical injuries from some of the show’s challenges.
In a statement, MrBeast’s team attributed some of the issues to the CrowdStrike internet outages, “extreme weather,” and “other unexpected logistical and communications issues” and promised to conduct a “formal review” of the production. His representatives added that they are “grateful that virtually all of those invited to Toronto for our next production have enthusiastically accepted our invitation.”
But the series’ creator himself has also been the subject of controversy. MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has raised millions for various charities, but some have accused those philanthropic efforts of being problematic. In recent months, Mr. Beast has also been criticized for having a co-host who allegedly groomed a minor and for comments he himself made when he was younger that were deemed racist and homophobic.
Ultimately, it remains to be seen how the Beast Games production will go in Toronto. CBC News reports that Toronto’s police, paramedics and fire department have been made aware of the shoot in case of any issues. Beyond that, though, it’s unclear whether either MrBeast’s team or Amazon have taken steps to address the concerns from the Nevada shoot.
A Prime Video premiere date for Beast Games has not yet been confirmed.
