Here’s why the Essential Phone currently doesn’t support Telus VoLTE calling

The carrier says the Essential Phone will support the feature at a later date

With the price of data in Canada who wants to use VoLTE?

For that matter who uses a smartphone to make calls anymore?

Fun fact: “There are no additional fees for using the VoLTE service and does not use any of your allotted data.”

really? Why wouldn’t they count it towards your data cap? this is complete news and very interesting to me.

For the same reason that RCS messaging won’t count against your data cap when it becomes more readily available. VoLTE calling is the evolution of a legacy service. The way the carriers deliver that service to you has changed — from 3G to 4G — but at the end of the day it’s still just voice calling (with enhancements, of course).

So you’re saying I should read the whole article before commmenting? Who’s got time for that?

Pixel still not on list of supported devices either 🙁

Would this be the reason why Telus does not support the new Apple Watch 3?
