While much of Ubisoft’s E3 conference went as expected, the company took some time to announce a few surprises, including the long-awaited sequel to a popular property from the early 2000s.
Below is every game featured at Ubisoft’s 2017 E3 conference.
Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle
The conference got off to an exciting start, with Nintendo’s own Shigeru Miyamoto joining Ubisoft chairman, CEO and co-founder Yves Guillemot to unveil the first gameplay footage for Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Adventure.
The game is a tactical, turn-based adventure starring a cast from the Mario Bros. games, including Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, and the red-clad plumber himself.
The new game is a Nintendo Switch-exclusive, and is the first cross-over property between Nintendo and Ubisoft.
The game comes out on Aug. 29th, 2017.
Assassin’s Creed: Origins
The latest Assassin’s Creed game was leaked sometime ago, and the first trailer was released yesterday.
However, the game headlined at Ubisoft’s own conference, where the company also showed off 30 minutes of gameplay.
The game is set in Egypt, and will explore the origins of the Assassin Order and its battle against the Knights Templar.
The trailer showed at Ubisoft’s conference highlighted the game’s Ancient Egypt setting, with hyenas, camels, pyramids, and the Nile River taking centre stage.
Assassin’s Creed: Origins is set to launch on Oct. 27th, 2017, on PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4.
The Crew 2
2014’s The Crew was a warmly received street racing game in the vein of other properties like Burnout.
The Crew 2 is set to feature the series’s street racing roots, while also bringing off-roading, speed boating, and even flying elements into the mix.
The Crew 2 will launch in early 2018.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole
2014 also saw the release of South Park: The Stick of Truth, a single-player role-playing game set in the South Park universe mixed with fantasy elements.
The Fractured But Whole, is a spiritual successor, taking place in the same universe, featuring the same on-brand angry irreverence, while shifting the series to focus on superheroes and supervillains.
The trailer featured quite a bit of swearing, a healthy amount of double entendres, as well as the same art style as the show.
Oh, and the much-discussed demo has the player and his superhero team sneaking into a strip club, so fans of the series need not worry too much about censorship.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole is set to come out on Oct. 17th, 2017, on PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4.
South Park: Phone Destroyer
Ubisoft also announced a South Park mobile game for Android and iOS.
The game seems to be its own independent property outside of The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole. The game seems to be a turn-based adventure game with role-playing elements.
South Park: Phone Destroyer is coming later in 2017.
Transference
Ubisoft didn’t just announce sequels to existing franchises. The company also took time to officially announce a new project called Transference.
The game seems to be a blend of the horror and thriller genres, and will incorporate virtual reality.
The trailer, which also starred Elijah Wood in full creepy mode, revealed that the game is about a series of emotion experiments from the 1990s, where test subjects experienced the emotions, memories, and consciousness of other people.
The viewer is reminded that the tests “Can’t hurt you,” so you know something is going to go horribly wrong.
Transference is set to launch in Spring 2018.
Skull and Bones
Pirates have been experiencing a resurgence in popularity in recent years, with Ubisoft’s own Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag doing quite a bit to convince audiences that pirates really are cool.
Skull and Bones — a 5-on-5 team-based PvP — is built off of the pirate ship battles in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag and expands the gameplay by adding team elements.
In many ways, Skulls and Bones is a spiritual successor to Black Flag, but whereas the latter is about assassins and pirates, the former is just about pirates.
Skull and Bones is coming soon, but eager rogues can sign up now to access the game’s beta.
Just Dance: 2018
It’s not a Ubisoft E3 conference without a little Just Dance to keep people on their feet.
The latest in the popular rhythm game series is set to launch in October 2017.
Starlink: Battle for Atlas
Yet another original property, Starlink: Battle for Atlas allows players to build starships to defend a galaxy from invaders.
Players can use digital or actual physical parts to build their ships. That’s not a joke about the physical parts.
The game’s trailer showed players attaching wings, rocket boosters, and other parts to controllers.
Starlink: Battle for Atlas is set to launch in Fall 2018, and will be playable on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and even Nintendo Switch.
Steep
Ubisoft launched Steep in December 2016, and the game is set to launch on Nintendo Switch later this year.
The company took time to announce an expansion for their online extreme sports title, inspired by the 2018 Olympic Winter games in PyeongChang, South Korea.
Far Cry 5
In many ways, Far Cry 5 was probably Ubisoft’s most-hyped title coming into E3 2017.
Set in fictional Hope County, Montana, the game’s story features a religious cult taking over part of the state in order to exact a violent, ritualistic vengeance.
The E3 trailer didn’t reveal any new details about the property, but Ubisoft took the time to showcase all of the brutally violent ways that players can use Hope County’s various accoutrements — including a combine harvester — to execute their opponents.
The gameplay trailer also confirmed the return of canine allies.
Far Cry 5 is set to launch on Feb. 28th, 2018, and will be available on PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4.
Beyond Good and Evil 2
It’s been quite some time since Ubisoft’s revealed anything about the sequel to 2003’s Beyond Good and Evil, but the sequel’s trailer was a welcome change of pace.
According to Ubisoft, Beyond Good and Evil 2 is set before the birth of the Jade, the first game’s protagonist.
Truth be told, the trailer revealed very little, other than the game’s diverse human and human-animal hybrid cast.
Still, with a trailer featuring a Chav monkey, an Asian hog, cyberpunk Vedic architecture, and massive starships floating through the clouds, Beyond Good and Evil 2 looks to be a worthy successor.
Ubisoft didn’t announce when or where players will be able to pick up a copy of Beyond Good and Evil 2.
