Monster Hunter XX Double Cross coming to the Nintendo Switch, no word on North American release yet

The Monster Hunter series has been around for more than a decade. The fantasy, role-playing game (RPG) started back in 2004 on the PlayStation 2 and now it is set to arrive on Nintendo’s newest console, the Switch.

Monster Hunter Generations, the Japanese variant of Monster Hunter X, received an expanded version called Monster Hunter XX, Double Cross, earlier this year in Japan.

It featured new content that wasn’t in the original Monster Hunter X. Capcom, the developers and publishers of the Monster Hunter series, announced that it will release Monster Hunter XX for the Nintendo Switch in Japan, with more information set to be unveiled at the Monster Hunter Championship starting tomorrow during an upcoming press conference.

Currently, there is no word on a Western release date for the game, however, due to the Switch being region free, picking up the Japanese variant is possible — if you don’t mind Japanese text. Nevertheless, with E3 around the corner, more information about a Western variant could be revealed soon. Though Nintendo isn’t holding a standard conference, on June 13th the company will highlight upcoming games set to arrive on the console in a stream.

Look out to see if Monster Hunter makes the cut.
