Canadian developers can now register to take part in Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference ticket lottery.
Apple has held its WWDC lottery for the past several years due to overwhelming demand for tickets to the yearly event.
To register, developers need to provide their credit card info, which Apple will charge only if the developer is selected to attend the conference. Single tickets cost $1599 USD (approximately $2138 CAD). So it’s best to be sure you’re set on attending the conference before signing up. Developers have until Friday, March 31st to register.
Students can also apply for a chance to get a scholarship to the event. Scholarship applications are due on April 2nd.
After calling San Francisco’s Mascone Center for most of its existence, the annual developer conference is moving to San Jose’s McEnery Convention Center. The move should allow attendees to save on hotel lodging, as San Francisco has become prohibitively expensive in recent years. Meanwhile, Apple employees will likely appreciate being closer to Cupertino, which is directly west of the city. The event will start on June 5th and run through until the 9th.
At WWDC 2016, Apple announced and detailed iOS 10, the latest version of its smartphone operating system, which is to say we’ll likely see the company details iOS 11 at the event.
