Sales of the Galaxy Note 7 in Canada will resume sometime in mid-October, according to Samsung Canada COO Paul Brannen.
In an interview with MobileSyrup, Brannen stated, “Samsung’s first priority is to fulfill devices for customers who have registered for the Canadian Product Exchange. We have started to ship replacement devices and anticipate fulfilling the customer demand in early October and will look at selling devices through our channels in the mid-October timeframe.”
The Note 7 became the subject of a massive recall on September 1st after a number of users around the globe reported their Note 7 overheating and, in some cases, catching on fire.
According to Samsung, 70 percent of existing Note 7s in Canada have been registered as a part of the company’s return program. Samsung’s current goal is to ensure 100 percent of affected devices are returned by consumers. To do so, the company is rolling out a mandatory update that prompts Note 7 to turn off their device and register for the Samsung Canadian Exchange Program every three hours.
