Tile’s latest product might actually fit in your wallet.
The company’s new slim tracking device is as thin as two credit cards placed on top of one another, measuring in at 54mm x 54mm x 2.4mm. While the original Tile is a great tracker despite the fact that its battery can’t be removed, the device was held back by a few key issues, mainly its bulky size, which made it difficult to slide into tight spaces in a wallet or purse.
In comparison, the original tile comes in at 37mm x 37mm 5.3mm, slightly smaller than the new Tile in terms of total size, but also considerably thicker.
According to Tile, the company’s new tracker, beyond obvious design differences, is the same as the last-generation device. If you attach the Tile to your device or backpack, the tracker on the gadget is able to ring so you can find what you’ve lost. Tile also features crowdsourced tracking, pinging nearby tiles to give the user the location of objects out of the device’s typical range.
The new Tile costs $30 USD each or $100 USD for a pack of 4 and is available on the company’s website now. The tracking device will come to retail stores as well, though it’s unclear where in Canada. We’ve reached out to the company for clarification and will update this story when we know more.
