The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) has announced today that the Jane subway station now has free wireless internet access. That brings the total station platforms with access to TCONNECT wi-fi to 34 locations.
By the end of 2016, the TTC plans to have 50 station platforms online, with the whole system live by early 2017. It estimates current usage at 60,000 log-ins per day.
The program was initially launched in December 2014, and has been slowly built out by TTC in partnership with BAI Canada, a company that designs, builds and operates underground communication networks.
