Plex’s Material Design transformation continues today with the latest version of the multimedia app being updated to version 4.6.
The usual Material Design flourishes are all here, including a floating action button and transparent status bar.
“We’ve been continuing to embrace Android’s gorgeous Material Design guidelines, and all of the media preview screens have been upgraded to look amazing on both phones and tablets small and large,” says the company of the ongoing transformation.
Aside from the makeover, several feature additions are a part of this update, as well. The most notable one being the inclusion of multi-video playback—a feature that has long been requested by users, according to the company.
Moreover, thanks to this update, those that have the Android TV version of the app can now take advantage of a new channel searching feature. Additionally, the app’s sorting and filtering capabilities have also been enhanced.
On Chromecast, it’s finally possible to switch between audio and subtitle tracks while actively watching a TV show or movie.
Rounding out the update are an assortment of unspecified bug fixes.
Lastly, with the same sense of humour that permeates the rest of its announcement post, Plex promises that an update to its iOS app is forthcoming.
“Dear iOS, we know it’s been a bit rough. Those long walks in the park and boomboxes underneath windows in the rain, well, it’s been a while,” says the post. “But soon, very soon, all the other mobile platforms are going to be very jealous. That’s right, we’re gonna put a ringtone on it.”
Download Plex via Google Play. Anyone with a BlackBerry 10 device can check out the update by download the app from the Amazon App Store.
