With MWC behind us, the rumour mill is back to churning out whispered specifications of phones that didn’t make it to Barcelona this year, among them the HTC One M9 Plus, and Sony’s Xperia Z4.
Leaker @OnLeaks, who has been tweeting up a storm about the new LG G4 coming later this year, has turned his attention to Sony’s newest handset and tossed out some dimensions that put the phone at more or less the same size as its predecessor. These measurements also appear to confirm rumours of a 5.2-inch display, just like we saw on the Xperia Z3.
OnLeaks writes that the Z4 will measure 146.3 x 71.9 x 7.2mm compared 146 x 71.9 x 7.3 for last year’s Z3. Almost no difference in size, in other words.
But size isn’t everything — just because there phones share a similar footprint, doesn’t mean they’ll be the same phone. Sony is known for iterative changes in the Xperia Z line but various rumours have pointed to a pretty solid spec sheet for the Z4, including a 2560 x 1440 QHD pixel display, a Snapdragon 810 SoC with Adreno 430 graphics, 4GB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage, a 20.7MP camera in the back, a 5MP camera up front, and support for storage expansion via MicroSD.
Sony hasn’t made any official announcements regarding the Z4 but the most recent rumours had it pegged for a summer release.
