Update: The Moto Hint is now available at TELUS for $165. It can be found in stores or ordered online.
TELUS will be bringing the Moto Hint to Canada beginning in early December.
Announced alongside the new Moto X and Moto G, the Hint is a diminutive Bluetooth headset that sits comfortably in the ear. While it can function with any Bluetooth-enabled smartphone to initiate calls and commands through Siri or Google Now, it is optimized for the always-listening features of the Moto X.
Features baked into the new Moto X, such as asking “What’s New” to hear a synopsis of one’s schedule, can be activated on the Hint without removing the phone from a pocket or bag. It’s also capable of accepting and delivering turn-by-turn navigation and even music playback, though Motorola stresses it is not a headphone replacement.
The internal sensor knows when it has been placed inside the ear, so it only turns on when it needs to, and the high-sensitivity microphones ensures it can decipher its owner’s voice in busy public areas.
The Hint’s battery lasts for between four and six hours per charge, but comes with a portable docking station that can charge the headset twice before itself needs to be juiced.
The Hint will be available for $164.99 CAD at TELUS retail stores.
