Guy Laurence took over the reins at Rogers last year when Nadir Mohamed resigned. This ushered in a new era and now, six months later, there seems to be a transition in the works. We’ve confirmed a number of notable departures from the company.
According to an email we received to employees by Rob Bruce, President of Rogers Communications, John Boynton, EVP Marketing and CMO, will be leaving for an unknown reason. Boynton started at Rogers 12-years ago as VP of Consumer Marketing, then rose to lead the marketing efforts. The second exec to exit is Shelagh Stoneham, SVP and GM, Brands and Marcomm, who “will be leaving Rogers to pursue other career opportunities.”
“For the next 48 hours both the Marketing and Marcomms will report to me. A further announcement will follow on Friday after Guy has unveiled our new strategic plan,” said Bruce in the email.
Laurence was previously CEO of Vodafone UK and when he came in to turn that business around he cut jobs, costs, and the dress code – immediately instructing employees to wear the same clothing as its customers. No word yet on any other executive shuffles.
Rogers recently announced Q1 results and from a wireless perspective they have amassed 9,432,000 subscribers.
