Twitter released new versions of its iOS and Android apps this week with a bundle of photo focused optimizations. Photo-heavy tweeters now have new cropping and rotation options, as well as the ability to quickly mention another user when tweeting a photo by tapping the image. Tweeters can also now reply to a tweet with a photo via a quick tap of the gallery icon.
The latest version of Twitter also features a recommended tweets display that enters the timeline if a user pulls to refresh and there are no new tweets available. It’s a very clean way of surfacing new or trending content that users might otherwise not see, but I’m wary it will eventually be used to surface ads or promoted tweets. Leave a note in the comments and let us know what you think.
