New Sense 5.5 screenshots show what’s in store for the HTC One

Canadians have already been graced with the Android 4.3 update for the HTC One, but the company is not resting on its laurels.

Reliable XDA Developer and ROM leaker mike1986 has gotten his paws on a leaked version of Sense 5.5 for the HTC One, and it introduces a few interesting features and eliminates some quirks from earlier versions.

Perhaps most notably, BlinkFeed can now be disabled completely. The news feed is the HTC One’s default home screen and it’s not always useful, especially if you’ve gone to other sources for your news. The Quick Settings toolbar can also now be edited, something that Samsung devices have boasted for a long time.

The camera app has been spruced a little, too, adding something called “Dual Capture,” which ostensibly takes a photo with the front and rear cameras at the same time (sound familiar?) and Sweep Panorama, which could mimic Google’s Photosphere.

The HTC keyboard has been tweaked with a dedicated emoticon tab (of course) and better performance, apparently.

Look for the Sense 5.5 update to hit XDA in the next few weeks, but it will likely take until well into 2014 to come to Canadian carrier-sold devices.
