TELUS has updated its Optik On The Go app for iOS and Android phones and tablets, bringing an improved content-on-demand experience and extensive performance improvements.
The company launched the app last year to compete with Bell’s Mobile TV and Rogers Anywhere TV Live services, though the former offer both live and on-demand content via an extra subscription model. In its 2.0 version, Optik On The Go has been retooled to run faster with fewer stability issues. Users can now rent movies and TV shows on demand through the app itself, which now supports high-definition content.
Like Astral’s TMNGo service, Optik’s extensive catalogue is free for existing TELUS television subscribers. This includes channels like Super Channel, Disney XD and Treehouse. The iOS version also comes with a smart remote feature that can change channels and set recording schedules for movies and shows.
Rogers launched a similar product last year with its Anyplace TV Home Edition app, which lets subscribers watch 25 channels live on their iPad or Android tablets.
If you’re an Optik TV subscriber, download On The Go for iPhone, iPad, Android phones or tablets.
