Kobo has begun distributing an update to its excellent Arc tablet, bringing it to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The tablet shipped with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich in November, and the turnaround time is fairly impressive for a company without much experience in the Android arena.
Kobo launched the Arc with its Tapestries overlay but the software was otherwise relatively unfettered from stock Android. This new version adds standard Jelly Bean features, including Google Now, expandable notifications, improved predictive text entry and voice input and faster search throughout the OS. Kobo is also adding an ICS feature, Face Unlock, to the tablet.
If you are rocking a Kobo Arc, head to Settings/About Device/Software Update and let us know how you like it!
