Last week Samsung announced that the Galaxy S III would be gradually be upgraded from Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to OS 4.1 Jelly Bean starting this October. Our sources stated that us Canadians would officially graced with Jelly Bean sometime later “in Q4.”
According to a press release today by Samsung Canada might reveal otherwise. Samsung is a sponsor of the World Cyber Games and the release notes various products that are perfect for gaming, specifically the Series 7 Gaming Laptop, or “on-the-go play with the Galaxy GS III.”
Samsung said that “Perfect for on-the-go gaming, the lightning-fast GS III is powered by Android Jelly Bean, and features a mighty 1.5GHz Advanced Dual-Core processor and stunning graphical capabilities thanks to a 4.8″ Super AMOLED screen.”
Hopefully this means that the official upgrade is coming much sooner than later, but of course there’s other ways to grab Jelly Bean now. We’ve reached out to Samsung for clarification.
