Apple has launched ‘Apple Notifications’, a service that provides periodic text message updates for orders made on its online store. This can be activated during Checkout, in addition to email notifications, and can be turned off by replying STOP to the message itself.
The notifications include shipping and delivery times. The company must have a valid phone number on your account in order to activate the feature, and if you’re already using an iPhone it comes through as an iMessage.
In a press message, the company stated: “Apple Notifications is a text-message-based alerts service designed to keep you up-to-date on your shipment and/or pickup notification status. In addition to standard email notifications, you can also request text message updates when you’re in Checkout. The number of messages you’ll receive will vary depending on the orders you placed.”
It’s a pretty cool feature for anyone looking to stay up to date on his or her new MacBook, Apple TV or iPad order. The service should be available on all Canadian carriers, but Apple has not specified on which ones it is available.
