Virgin Mobile has updated their site with their LTE coverage. As expected, 14 locations in total and similar to what Bell has. Virgin states that users can experience “up to 75 Mbps – theoretical peak downloads speeds may vary”. During our LTE (Long Term Evolution) speed test with Bell’s network, we experience download speeds between 15-45Mpbs, and upload speeds of 6-15Mbps.
An internal doc we posted earlier this week stated that Virgin will launch LTE network “just in time for new iPad”. So in addition to Rogers, Bell and TELUS, you’ll also have Virgin Mobile as an option to activate your LTE-enabled iPad. Coverage is in the following areas: Yellowknife, Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, London, Kitchener/Waterloo/Guelph/Cambridge, Toronto, Mississauga, Hamilton, Belleville, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec and Halifax. The dark grey in the maps is future coverage.
