Samsung has official gone on record and announced the roll out schedule for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on a few devices. On their blog they state that “GALAXY S II and GALAXY Note will start in the first quarter 2012, and other GALAXY devices will soon follow.” Now, for us Canadians we already saw an “estimate” as to when Bell might be getting ICS for the Galaxy SII – a leaked internal document listed April 2012, so perhaps we’ll see it a bit earlier in “Q1”. No other word from all the other Canadian carriers on when we can expect to see it from them.
The other “upgradable models” Samsung speaks of are the GALAXY S II LTE, GALAXY Note, GALAXY R, GALAXY Tab 10.1, GALAXY Tab 8.9, GALAXY Tab 7.7, and GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus. In Canada, we have the GSII LTE (Rogers), Tab 10.1 (majority of all carriers), Tab 8.9 (Bell and TELUS), and we will be getting the Note in Q1. Samsung gave no indication of when these will be upgraded to 4.0, only that it will “will soon follow” and that the “OS updates schedule for each market according to market situation and carriers’ requirement”.
