A new “Additional Data Allowance” feature will be coming to Rogers sometime in Q3. This feature will give customers who have the Unlimited Voice and Data bundle plan or the Smartphone data add-on “more data when they need it”. Basically once you exceed the data in your plan you’ll automatically get bumped up to the next level for additional $5 (like a Flex plan). Tethering is available but Rogers states that because this feature is “built-in” some important services will not work: SMS alerts to notify you of when you exceed your data limits and also the ability to check your usage via the Rogers My Account app or via the Rogers.com site. So if you have these plans the more data you consume you’ll possibly see $5 increments of additional charges on your monthly statement.
(Thanks tipster!)
