The Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) just released a report that gives a solid overview of the Canadian wireless market. In 2010 there was over 1.7 new wireless customers which brings the total number of subscribers to 24,567,947 (as at December 31st, 2010). This also represents an increase of 7.51% but they do only account for Rogers, Bell, TELUS (their sub-brands), SaskTel, MTS, WIND and Videotron. Missing from the list is new-entrants Public Mobile and Mobilicity. These are both private companies and do not need to report their subscriber numbers but it’s safe to say the subscriber base in Canada is up to at least 24.7 million. Rogers still is the number one carrier in Canada with over 8.9 million subs, followed by Bell at 7.2 million.
