Samsung sells over 50 million Galaxy S and S II devices, Note tops 7 million

Samsung has found some major success with their flagship Galaxy smartphones. The Galaxy S, Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Note have helped them become a leading Android manufacturer and also claim the title as the largest mobile manufacturer in the world.

Today they’ve announced that cumulative sales of the Galaxy S and the Galaxy S II have reached 50 million units. Since June 2010, Samsung says that worldwide sales of the Galaxy S has totaled 24 million. Then the follow-up Galaxy S II has set a new record for the company for the largest amount of sales in the shortest period of time, taking only 13 months to sell 28 million handsets. In addition, the 5.3-inch Galaxy Note has now topped 7 million sales in 7 months.

The Galaxy S III seems to be on pace to outperform these numbers. Early numbers were that carriers pre-ordered 9 million units. I’d say deciding to use Google’s Android OS was a good choice.
