New rumours stemming from TechCrunch indicate that Google could be working on a social app designed to allow small groups of friends to edit and organize photos together.

Given Google’s failure to get Google+ to gain traction and the release of its various chat-focused apps over the last few months including Allo and Duo, it makes sense for the tech giant to be working on a collaborative app aimed at the photo editing space.
It’s unclear exactly what this app would look like or how it will function, though it’s likely that Google will unveil it in May at I/O, the same event the tech giant first showed off Allo and Duo last year. While the still unannounced app’s utility could be limited for some, there are a number of situations where a collaborative photo editing app fills a much-needed void in the Android space. Vacations, baby photos and family events are all examples of instances where a group photo editing and sharing app would be useful.
Given what is known about Google’s plans for a collaborative photo editing platform, it’s likely that the app will combine elements from apps like Path (RIP), Google Photos and even Snapchat, allowing users to tag photos and organize them into folders.
The app may also share similarities with with Apple’s recently launched simple mobile video editing app Clips.
