Scotiabank brings Apple Watch support to its iOS app

Scotiabank has updated its iOS app to version 15.4.1, bringing support for the Apple Watch, which officially launches in Canada tomorrow.

The app uses Glance for a quick insight into your bank accounts, balances, recent transactions, and credit card balances, with an indication of the remaining credit you have. Finally, Scotiabank has taken advantage of Force Touch to allow users to ‘refresh’ what is shown on the Watch display and ‘favourite’ various menus.

Scotiabank now joins other Canadian financial institutions, such as CIBC, Desjardins and Tangerine with Watch support.

The Apple Watch app operates in a similar fashion to Scotiabank’s Quick Balance app, which is available on Samsung’s Tizen-powered Gear 2, Gear S, and the Android Wear-powered Gear Live.

Jeff Marshall, VP of Self-Service Customer Experience at Scotiabank, said, “Mobile banking solutions are the fastest growing banking channels at Scotiabank, and our customers continue to view our iPhone app as a personal, safe and convenient choice that provides them with the information that they need while they are on the go.”
