WIND Mobile reportedly makes a $190 million bid for Mobilicity

Wind Mobile

Mobilicity is currently auctioning off their spectrum and subscriber base to the highest bidder. The deadline was last Monday at noon, but to-date there’s no word on the complete list of qualified bidders.

Previous reports indicated WIND Mobile was “currently reviewing the assets” and “investigating what will be most beneficial to us long-term.” This partnership would make sense and has been something that WIND Mobile has attempted in the past. According to a report on Bloomberg, a “person with knowledge of the matter” says that WIND Mobile has submitted a bid for Mobilicity’s assets that is approximately $190 million – which is half of TELUS’ $380 million rejected bid last June.

Mobilicity declined to comment on the news, but Mobilicity spokesman Nick Anstett stated that the review of all offers is ongoing and a decision could happen in the next “several weeks.” Mobilicity is expecting to end 2013 with 175,000 subscribers, and WIND Mobile has about 640,000 active subscribers.
