Google is releasing the best update for Gemini yet, a ‘Utilities Extension’ that can control your Android device and apps.
This extension lets users manage their alarms and timers, open apps, control media, and more. Beforehand, when you activated Gemini and tried to do these tasks, it would rely on Google Assistant or tell you that it couldn’t be done. This will allow for a native, more seamless experience.
This is so far only available in English and is gradually rolling out to more users. I have my Gemini set to U.S. English, and I don’t have these new extensions yet, but it may be unlocked by region and language, or it’s a server-side update.
Here are some of the features available from the lockscreen:
- Set and silence alarms
- Set and stop timers
