Rogers-owned Fido reportedly offered some customers up to 20GB of free monthly data as a holiday bonus.
According to a screenshot of a Fido text message shared on Reddit, the wireless provider offered 20GB of “free extra data every month” on customers’ current plans.
Those who receive the message can claim the free data by signing into their Fido account (the text specifies this must be done on desktop, though it’s not clear why). Once signed in, customers will need to click a popup that appears, then click ‘accept’ to add the data bonus to their account.
The text from Fido notes that the data bonus will start as soon as customers accept and will “continue every month with your current plan.” Presumably, if you change your plan, that 20GB bonus will drop off.
Notably, this bonus data offer is rolling out ahead of Black Friday and holiday deals expected to start later this month. If you’re with Fido and you get this message, it’s probably worth taking the bonus data (it’s free, after all). When Black Friday deals roll out, if there’s a better offer out there, you can always switch.
