Koodo has a new travel option called ‘Easy Roam Travel Passes’ that let you bundle roaming for a set amount of days instead of paying the standard $14/$16 per day to use your own number and data on a trip.
These new passes allow you to buy the option to roam for seven to 30 days, depending on where you’re travelling and can reduce the cost of roaming to the USA by roughly 45 percent.
The USA pass costs $55 for seven days. If you were to pay $14 per day to use regular Easy Roam, it would cost $98. Customers can get this pass by texting ‘US7PASS’ to 7626.
The Caribbean/Mexico pass costs $60 for seven days. Easy Roam in these locations is $16 per day, so it would normally cost $112. To get this pass, text ‘CAR7PASS’ to 7626.
If you travel to Europe, you can get either a 14-day pass for $50 or a 30-day pass for $60. These locations would have $16 per day roaming traditionally, so these options are actually the best deal of the bunch, but there is no choice to get it for just a week. To get this pass, text ‘EU14PASS’ or ‘EU30PASS’ to 7626.
If you want to get one of these passes, you can text Koodo and you’ll be charged the first day that your roaming activates.
Overall, these aren’t terrible roaming deals since it does allow you to use your own data pool and phone number while abroad, which can be quite helpful, but the USA pass especially is quite steep still compared to eSIM options you could buy from a travel sim card provider like Airalo.
