Ericsson expands Concordia partnership with 10-year agreement

The pair will develop educational programs and research initiatives at Concordia's Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science

Ericsson and Concordia University announced an expanded partnership with a 10-year agreement focused on research and education in information and communications technology.

Through the partnership, Ericsson and Concordia will develop educational programs and research initiatives at Concordia’s Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science. Additionally, Ericsson said students will gain access to its expertise and world-class facilities.

The agreement is Ericsson’s first “Tier 1” partnership with a unversity in Canada, which is the highest level of collaboration between a company and academic institution. Concordia joins a select group of seven institutions with such partnerships with Ericsson.

It also builds on Ericsson’s history with Concordia. The two have been partners since 2011 and so far have published over 60 scientific research articles and demonstrated nearly 40 proof-of-concept projects. Key initiatives from the duo include co-funding the NSERC/Ericsson Industrial Research Chair on Model-Based Software Management, a research and development initiative funded by the federal government’s Cyber Security Innovation Network, an artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) education program for Ericsson employees, a research partnership to improve 5G network sustainability through AI, and more.
