The world of The Batman is expanding.
On September 19th, the spin-off series The Penguin will be released, featuring Oscar nominee Colin Farrell reprising the titular role from Matt Reeves’ hit 2022 superhero film. Created by Lauren LeFranc (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and co-produced by Reeves, The Penguin follows the rise of the Farrell’s portly disfigured crime boss one week after the events of The Batman. In addition to Farrell, the series stars Cristin Milioti (Made for Love) and Rhenzy Feliz (Encanto).
As an HBO series, The Penguin will stream exclusively on Bell’s Crave service in Canada. The first episode will premiere on HBO and Crave on September 19th at 9pm ET, while the remaining seven episodes will air every Sunday night at 9pm starting on September 29th.
It should be noted that The Batman was previously available to stream on Crave but has since been removed, presumably due to an expired licence. It’s also worth mentioning that The Batman – Part II, which will once again feature Reeves as director and Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, is set to hit theatres on October 2nd, 2026 after a one-year delay.
