Japanese entertainment giant Bandai Namco has opened a ‘Gashapon‘ capsule toy store in Toronto’s Union Station in partnership with Sparetime.
Originally launched in 1977, Gashapon refers to Bandai Namco’s version of the popular capsule toys found in Japan and other countries worldwide. (“Gasha” is the sound for cranking the vending machine handle, while “pon” is the sound the capsule makes when landing in the tray.)
Notably, this is Canada’s first-ever Gashapon Store, which will be home to over 260 machines. You can also get a bonus Gashapon tote bag with the purchase of $30 in tokens.
While many might know Bandai Namco for games like Dragon Ball, Dark Souls and Elden Ring, the company also has a massive Toys & Collectibles division. Some of the brands it carries include GUNDAM, One Piece, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen and more. Therefore, you can expect to get capsules from all kinds of brands at the Toronto Gashapon location.
