If you live in the Yukon and have had crappy Bell service, the premier’s office is talking to you. According to a recent report from CBC News, the premier’s office in the Yukon encourages its residents to file complaints to the CRTC.
Over the past few months, customers have reportedly complained about frequently dropped calls, spotty coverage, and intermittent service in the Yukon. These issues have affected individuals, businesses and front-line workers, causing the premier to send complaints to the CRTC on behalf of the province’s residents.
Unfortunately, Bell owns most of the Yukon’s cell towers, which affects many citizens. The premier doesn’t believe that Bell can handle all the complaints its customers have in the province and cannot compensate them fairly for their disrupted services.
“I have heard from wildland firefighter personnel who have had challenges even being able to speak to a Bell technician because the service continued to cut out throughout the call,” reads a complaint letter from Premier Ranj Pillai to Bell and reported by CBC.
Pillai even urged Bell’s CEO to offer final compensation, but the province ha sn’t heard back from telecom. Even Bell’s complaint line that it provided to the Government of Yukon is insufficient.
Considering all of this, Pillai’s office is now asking Yukoners to contact the CRTC (1-877-249-2782 or online), hoping that Canada’s telecommunications will address these issues.
