Calgary-based telecom giant Shaw has partnered with Richardson, Texas-based IT and digital services company Fujitsu on an enhanced fibre-optic network.
Under the agreement, Shaw will leverage Fujitsu’s 1Finity platform and Virtuora software to increase the capacity and scale of its own network.
“Everything we do is driven by our customers, and we are committed to enhancing our network with new technologies to meet their growing need for connectivity,” said Damian Poltz, vice president of Technology, Strategy & Network at Shaw. “Fujitsu has helped make our network more agile and scalable, especially in urban areas – which will allow us to continue delivering a seamless connectivity experience.”
With the former, Shaw will use Fujitsu 1Finiity T310 Transport and 1Finity L100 Lambda series blades to create a modular, programmable optical networking solution that can enhance overall connectivity capacity and performance.
Meanwhile, the Virtuora solution will offer greater network functionality, including improved planning, design, management and service fulfillment.
