Google Pixel 2 XL users who’ve grabbed the June 2018 security update might have noticed a new issue with their devices: an extra second or two wait time when waking up their handsets.
Many have reported on the Google Issues Tracker and on Reddit that there seems to be a one or two second lag when waking up their smartphones. This seems to only be occurring for those who have downloaded the latest Android security update.
To replicate the issue, press the power to button to let your screen go to sleep, or press the power button to turn your screen off. Afterwards, if you use your fingerprint scanner or press the power button again, there will be a noticeable lag before the screen powers on.
While this isn’t the biggest issue the Pixel 2 XL has ever experienced, it’s definitely a tad annoying.
On the Google Issues Tracker page, you can see that Google has acknowledged the issue by stating: “We have passed this defect on to the development team and will update this issue with more information as it becomes available.”
According to Droid-life, some users point to a specific commit causing the issue, citing Google’s attempt to fix an always-on blinking issue.
It’s currently unclear when Google will fix the defect.
