After teasing Far Cry 5 for a number of days, Ubisoft has officially unveiled the next game in the series with a debut trailer.
The new game is set in Montana and will introduce a new cast of characters, including a religious doomsday cult and a resistance force. Far Cry 5 is expected to launch on February 27th, 2018 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Ubisoft says the game will feature two-player co-op and a map editor.
Not much else is known about Far Cry 5 yet, though Ubisoft has confirmed that the game will feature an open world — just like past entries in the series.
Ubisoft describes the game’s setting as the following:
Welcome to Hope County, Montana. When your arrival incites the cult to violently seize control of the region, you must rise up and spark the fires of resistance to liberate a besieged community.
Freely explore Hope County’s rivers, lands, and skies with the largest customizable weapon and vehicle roster ever in a Far Cry game. You are the hero of the story in a thrilling world that hits back with every punch, and where the places you discover and the locals you ally with will shape your story in ways you’ll never see coming.
Earlier this week Ubisoft released the Far Cry 5’s key art, creating a furor online regarding the game’s setting and characters. Far Cry 5 follows last year’s Far Cry Primal, which was set in prehistoric.
Ubisoft is expected to show off more of Far Cry 5 next month in Los Angeles at E3.
