The most important thing a technology company can do to grow and prosper is to invest in research and development. This kind of investment doesn’t necessarily guarantee success, but without it, those in the industry face a much larger challenge.
Each year, Research Infosource puts together a list of the Top 100 Corporate research and development (R&D) Spenders in Canada, and the list for 2016 was released this week. Topping the list again this year is Bombardier, and falling one spot to third is BlackBerry, after the latter’s R&D spending dropped over 20 percent compared to last year.
Also appearing in the top 15 are Bell (BCE Inc; 4th), Rogers (Rogers Communications; 9th), and Telus (Telus Corporation; 15th), and Huawei Canada came in at 29. Other communications or technology companies also made the list, including Ericsson Canada, AMD Canada, Cisco Canada, Sierra Wireless and even Shopify.
