Someone made Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time run on Android Wear

Super Mario 64 Android Wear

While finding a way to get Super Mario 64 to run on an Android Wear smartwatch is inherently kind of silly, it’s also undeniably cool and an impressive technical feat.

YouTuber Hacking Jules recently released a video showing off Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, two of the Nintendo 64’s best titles, running on the LG G Watch.

Since the LG G Watch’s screen is an incredibly small 1.65-inches, the on-screen directional pad and buttons featured in these emulated version N64 titles look like they’re difficult to use accurately.

With this said though the simple fact Super Mario 64 is now playable on a watch is mind blowing and a testament of what Android Wear is capable of. However, both game’s frame rates seem to stutter occasionally, which is a throwback to early Nintendo 64 emulators on Android devices.

Hopefully the frame rate issues are removed from the emulator before it’s publicly released (if that ever happens).

Hacking Jules has also successfully brought a PSP, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance and Windows 7 emulator to Android Wear, as well as ports of Street Fighter II and Mario Bros.
