Taste and consumption are driving the coffee wars in Canada. Tim Hortons, Starbucks, Second Cup and Timothy’s have been battling it out on Canadian soil for years, but now the focus has shifted to offering specialty items and customer service and convenience.
Starbucks recently brought mobile tipping and gifting to Canadians through its iOS and Android apps. To drive additional usage, Starbucks Canada has rolled out Inbox for its users, which will bring Starbucks Rewards members exclusive offers and “early access to sales.” Members of the loyalty program will see the Messages tab on the left-hand side of the login screen and the number of messages will appear below. This is available in either English or French.
In addition, Starbucks also stated it is working on optimizing its app for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+, noting “We hear you, and thank you for all your feedback.”
