HTC has an event planned for Mobile World Congress in March. We know this already — we got the invitation, and our flights are booked. The event is largely believed to be the launch of this year’s HTC One phone, the HTC One M9. However, we’re also expecting a few surprises. Like some kind of wearable, thanks to a raft of rumours and HTC’s partnership with Under Armour.
Suffice it to say, we’re pretty psyched for March 1st but HTC is making sure everyone is excited with teasers on Twitter. HTC UK has already confirmed “the new HTC One” will arrive March 1st, but HTC USA is being a bit more mysterious. The company posted the Madlib tweet you see above on Twitter. When one user asked for more information on the One M9 or Sense 7, HTC responded, “We don’t have specifics to give away just yet, but we’re excited to share it with you next month.”
However, the “huge” tweet has led to speculation that HTC is also planning a larger “Plus” or “Ultra” version of the One M9. With Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Google, and many others already offering phablet-sized phones, it’s easy to see HTC caving to the pressure and making a bigger phone to go along with its relatively one hand friendly One device. Previous rumours have the HTC One M9 Ultra pegged for a 5.5-inch display. We’ll know for sure on March 1st.
