BlackBerry 10.3.1 begins rolling out to Canadian devices

BlackBerry Z10

BlackBerry 10.3.1 has begun rolling out to various devices on Canadian carriers.

The company issued a press release this morning announcing the worldwide release of BB 10.3.1 for the Passport, Z30, Z10, Q10, Q5 and Porsche Design smartphones, and we’re already hearing that Rogers customers have begun pulling down the update.

Along with an extensive visual refresh offering flatter surfaces and a lighter colour scheme, BlackBerry 10.3.1 promises improved performance and battery life, and a more responsive camera across all supported devices.

Of course, likely the biggest additions are the front-end features, including Amazon Appstore, BlackBerry Assistant and support for Blend, the company’s cross-platform secure content synchronization solution.

BlackBerry has also made improvements to the Hub, the Calendar and all included media apps, including Video, Music, and Photos.

Finally, Passport, Q10 and Q5 users will enjoy the return of relevant keyboard shortcuts from the good ol’ BBOS days, which BlackBerry brought back with the Classic.

Have you received your update yet? We’ll be updating this post throughout the day with confirmations of specific device updates across carriers.
