Sonos 5.2 adds support for multiple accounts with music services

Sonos this week announced a new software update that it’s pushing out in beta for users. Though the update won’t be available until later this year, the company is hoping to give users of its multi-zone mesh speaker systems a taste of the new features it has planned for the official release of Sonos 5.2.

Sonos 5.2 beta brings the ability to play, pause, and skip tracks without unlocking your smartphone. Additionally, searching across all of your music sources includes songs stored on your phone. The biggest new feature is support for multiple accounts when it comes to streaming services like Spotify. This means you no longer have to pollute your Spotify with other people’s taste in music when someone else wants to use the Sonos.

Last but not least, Sonos hasn’t skipped this opportunity to improve the sound itself. Update 5.2 brings improvements to PLAYBAR that see the soundstage get a boost thanks to stereo imaging. The EQ and volume balance have been fine tuned to allow for a more nature sound.
