After what seems like an interminably long wait, Worms 2: Armageddon has returned to Android after the developer, Team 17, reclaimed the property from Electronic Arts who abandoned it to bugs and incompatibility.
The new version feels extremely snappy on the latest Android hardware and features all the turn-based missile warfare you grew accustomed to as a child. The game doesn’t deviate too far from the original premise, but the touch-based controls feel intuitive and the AI is remarkably adept at blowing your invertebrate protagonists into smithereens.
What’s interesting is that Team 17, like many developers before, deemed Canada a perfect testing ground for the single- and multiplayer-friendly game. Worms 2: Armageddon offers turn-based person-to-person multiplayer as well as online battles, and there are 30 single player missions to keep you occupied while offline.
At $4.99, Worms 2: Armageddon is fairly steep, but it’s a highly-polished game that actually lives up to its price tag.
