Rogers slightly making plans easier to understand, will show “all monthly fees included” in advertising

Carrier monthly price plans can be confusing. Sometimes you can get lost in the vast array of choice and still end up with “bill shock”. Over the past couple years we’ve seen the new entrants come out with 3 or 4 easy to understand plans, recently TELUS announced their “Clear and Simple” pricing that informed customers “what you see is what you pay”.

Rogers is starting to make a move in the right direction and will be slightly shifting how their price plans are advertised. From an internal doc we received it states that Rogers, by August 3rd, will start to make “our price plans as easy as possible to understand” and will show “all monthly fees included”. Rogers notes that “our prices have not changed”, but “will advertise the highest monthly price point of all. Currently, this will be based on the Government Regulatory Recovery Fee (GRRF)… Depending on where you live, you may find that the price you pay is slightly below the national advertised price”. So if a monthly price plan is $40 it usually comes with fine print that says “Plus $2.35 Government Regulatory Recovery Fee±”… now you’ll apparently see the monthly price plan advertised as $42.35.

(Thanks tipster!)
