Microsoft improves Windows Phone Maps traffic info with a little help from Nokia

Microsoft and Nokia have a mutually beneficial partnership in the Windows Phone world, so it’s nice when occasionally it spills over to all other vendors. In this case, Nokia has begun powering the traffic information inside the native Bing-powered Maps app, which is available on all devices. Previously Nokia’s NAVTEQ subsidiary became the provider of map and routing information inside the app, so this is the logical next step.
As you can see from the photo above, when you enable Show Traffic from the Maps menu, it is now a lot more detailed, with smaller streets getting the same love as the highways and thoroughfares.

Canadians will see the benefit of these improvements in the coming weeks, and Microsoft is adding the info to Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.
